Unit 2 Intro Paragraph
Modern society is one that is always aiming to find the newest forms of technology, and make advances as frequently as possible. Often, this leads to many benefits, such as high efficiency and greater accessibility of information. The Internet has proven to be an extremely important technological advance since it became mainstream in the twentieth century. Since then, the phenomenon of the social networking site has boomed. Where individuals in the past would attempt to meet people through face-to-face social interactions, it is becoming more and more acceptable to do these social interactions through a computer screen. While the Internet has opened up a variety of opportunities that have enormously benefited our society, there have also been consequences of these advances, such as online predators and even, in some cases, less in person interaction. Social networking sites have had negative impacts on communication in modern times due to the fact that the problems the medium faces are unprecedented.
